The Tantranz Massage Workshop Series

For the first time since the pandemic, Nataraj (the founder) and Amy are offering the Tantranz body of work in the US. This page contains the information you could need, including workshop details, how to register & pay, FAQ’s, and more about us as facilitators.

What is Tantranz Massage ?

Tantranz Massage is the art of touching and being touched with awareness, to awaken the natural potential of healing ecstasy our bodies possess.

It includes many types of touch:  subtle touch, rooted touch, neutral touch, touch of the heart, touch with and without oil, and pauses (absence of touch).  Genital touch is not the goal - it’s sometimes included, sometimes not.  If there is a “goal,” it’s to allow each participant to experiment with the totality of sensation available to body and soul, and possibly to experience love through touch.

The Tantranz modality also includes how to create a healthy container around touch.  We teach important topics such as consent, boundaries, connecting to feelings, good communication, finding mutuality, space for sharing and integration, connecting to our lovingness, and having fun.

Why is it so important… right now ?

Many people are touch starved.

The internet has made the world much smaller – we are constantly “in touch” with people halfway around the globe.  Yet, many of us are starved of real connection.

And then the pandemic did a number on us! So many people have reported having a hard time finding their mojo since.

Some people felt the isolation physically. Possibly going weeks or months (or longer) without touch.

Others had the opposite experience: spending so much time in close proximity with their families and partners made them realize that the touch they’re receiving isn’t the quality they want.

Wherever you fit on this spectrum, the Tantranz work is about more than just touch. We create a space for coming together again, reconnecting with ourselves (our desires, wants, needs) and others in an authentic, sensual, yummy space.

We use touch as a medium for finding pleasure, connection, authenticity, and life force energy.

Touch is vital. Authentic connection is vital. Feeling your own energy and sharing it with others is vital.

Come rediscover your vitality with us.

The Program

We’re offering a series of workshops to facilitate people at all experience levels participating to their degree of comfort, within the constraints of work/life balance.  Any of these workshops may be taken individually, and together they form an arc that introduces participants to the work and supports them on a journey of finding deeper and deeper layers of themselves.

Opening to Touch

This 3-hour workshop is a beautiful entry point for anyone completely new to the Tantranz work, or a juicy refresher for those who know us.   We’ll practice being in heart-to-heart connection, and learn to experience our hands as receivers of exquisite sensation, rather than as just “do-ers.”

Many techniques along the tantric path teach us to be more comfortable in our bodies and to use our senses as doors to transcendence. In this workshop, we’ll use our heart and hands as gateways to feeling, to make us better receivers and givers of connected, heartful touch.  You’ll become more comfortable with your own depth of feeling so you can begin to feel others with more curiosity and confidence.

Tantranz Part I: Awakening Life Force Energy

Tantranz Part I teaches us to connect with our bodies and to go beyond the limits we set ourselves mentally.  We will explore the art of touching and being touched with awareness to awaken ecstasy, the natural healing potential of the body.

We’ll explore how energy moves in waves through us, alternating between “active” and “receptive” states.  This ebb and flow of energy brings electricity, aliveness, and the flow of lovingness inside ourselves.  We’ll learn to embrace this, and relax into its intensity.  We’ll practice deep listening (to ourselves and others) and learn to answer the questions “What do I feel?” and “What do I need?”  There will be movement, touch, listening, sharing, silence, and meditation.

In this workshop, participants learn:

·   to root themselves in Presence and connect their touch to their Source

·   to flow in themselves and around another body with touch

·   to release loaded tension and remove stagnant energy by specific contacts of the first body and pressure on energy points

·   to use subtle touch at skin level without oil or any additions to activate natural electricity and allow it to flow freely from the basis to the crown, producing a sense of expansion and joy

·   to integrate this expansion, feeling the totality of our potential in the body and beyond

·   to develop awareness of our felt sense and embody our life

·   to improve communication between our inner active and receptive aspects as well as with others

Making Boundaries Fun

Often, we think of boundaries and fun as being contradictory – not in our world!  Learn how putting good agreements in place creates the clarity and relaxation in your nervous system to allow for more playfulness and fun.

This 3-hour workshop teaches you how to find your authentic and enthusiastic “yes!” and “no!” from inside your own body.  Experience how knowing your own limits allows you to expand into the next moment’s potential from a place of safety and confidence.  Practice communicating your boundaries in a way that creates connection, through exercises designed to help you expand your own capacity safely and confidently.

This workshop is grounded in the wisdom of Betty Martin’s Wheel of Consent

FAQ’s

Listen to Amy & Nataraj talk about the work

Who is this course intended for?

Individuals wishing to explore tantric touch in a safe environment, couples wishing to explore touch as a form of communication, massage therapists wishing to incorporate tantric touch into their existing offerings.  Participants must be 21 years of age or older.

Who is this course NOT intended for?

People with serious body image challenges, sexual or physical trauma that has not been addressed at some level previously.  We all have things we wish were different with our bodies, and our bodies all contain trauma at some level.  If you’re aware that you have issues that you have not yet felt ready to address with external support, this is probably not the right entry point for you.  Instead, we would recommend booking individual sessions with Amy to create a more integrated relationship with your own body with the goal of attending this group the next time we offer it.

Do I have to attend all 4 workshops?

No. Each workshop stands on its own, except for Tantranz II (Tantranz I is a prerequisite). The series forms an arc that is relevant to everyone. We’ve priced in discounts to support you being able to register for all of it.

What's typically covered in the weekend workshops?

Some theory (including how the touch moves electricity in the body, basic energy/pressure points, working with the 7 chakras),massage exchanges, meditations, and opportunities to share about the experience with small groups or the wider group.

Where are the workshops held?

All workshops are held in a beautiful private residence (The Sanctuary, Nederland, CO) which was purpose built to hold individual and small group retreats.  The address will be provided upon registration.

How many people will you take?

The evening workshops can accommodate up to 40 people. The weekend workshops are smaller to allow for adequate space and privacy. Weekend workshops are capped at 24 people.

Do you offer discounts or a sliding scale?

We intend our pricing to be as inclusive as possible. We’re giving Early Bird Discounts for bookings made before 9/15/23, we’re avoiding payment platforms that charge booking fees, and we’re giving additional discounts for booking multiple workshops together.

Your early commitment and organization can save you up to $200.  If you are not able to pay in full at the time you register, a $200 deposit will hold your space.

If you’re interested in participating and finances are prohibitive, please enquire with us about our two scholarship opportunities in exchange for light work (setup, tidying, take down) throughout the events.

Are food and accommodation included in the pricing?

No.  The workshops are not residential.  We can suggest places to stay locally if you’re coming from further afield or don’t wish to drive home each night.  We will have fruit  and tea available for breaks, but you will need to provide your own lunch.  We have fridge/freezer space and access to a microwave.  There are plenty of local restaurants within walking distance for the 90-min lunch breaks.

Do I need any prior massage experience?

No.

What do you mean “Nudity in the group room is accepted (not required)?

This massage is designed to be done on bare skin.  There will be folks in the room with different levels of comfort around nudity.  You are in control of your own comfort levels, and you are encouraged to undress only to a level you're comfortable with.  Sometimes people wear underwear or bikinis.  Sometimes they use sarongs to cover body parts not being worked on.  Some folks will be completely naked.  Nakedness in the group room is acceptable – and that doesn’t have to be you.

Will there be genital touch?

Our philosophy is that the definition of tantric massage doesn't pivot around the inclusion or exclusion of the genitals.  We teach the awareness and movement of energy.  We will be working with a 7-chakra system of energy, which means that there might be a call for touch around the root chakra, which is considered the sex center of the body in this system.  Often a hand may be placed here to ground erratic energy in the body.  However, we will not be teaching genital massage.  That is offered in more advanced levels because it takes time to become grounded in the principles of energy and to generate the level of safety with practice partners required to open into deeper work.  If an individual or couple is interested in learning genital massage, we suggest you book individual sessions with Amy or Nataraj.

Is this course for couples?  Do I need a partner?

You do not need a partner to attend.  The massage sessions will be exchanged in pairs.  Some couples will only want to work with their partner, which is part of their work in deepening intimacy.  Other couples (often the case when one or both partners is already a bodyworker) may choose to change partners in order to experience different energies in different bodies.  We will give space to your preferences when you register; however, anyone not registering with a partner will be expected to be openminded and openhearted about working with different people.

Will there be gender balance?

Gender isn't really central to this teaching, however we will attempt to create a group of participants who are happy and willing to work together.  We'll do our best to honor any preferences stated in the registration form, but it could happen that there are sessions where you are partnered with a body that makes you less comfortable in an intimate setting.  We ask participants to be open-minded and remember that this weekend is an exercise in learning touch – you're not trying to find your soul mate!

What if I identify as non-binary, trans, or in any way different from a cisgendered participant?

All bodies are unique and beautiful, and this course is about creating intimacy through touch and experiencing touch that feels good to your unique body.  We hope that every participant has enough love, acceptance, and belonging in their own body that they feel comfortable sharing this space with us.  If a sense of belonging in your own body is foreign to you, we invite you to book individual sessions with Amy to work on your connection to yourself with the goal of attending this group the next time we offer it.

What should I wear?

We use active meditations to move energy in the body, so you'll want to dress comfortably to move around/dance around.

What do I need to bring with me?

We will provide mattresses, sheets, and oil (when necessary) for the massage exchanges. We advise participants to bring a sarong (something to cover body parts you don’t want exposed, or to wear to the toilet, etc.), a towel (in case you get sweaty or oily), snacks (if fruit & tea won’t be enough for you), lunch (if you don’t want to eat out locally), a water bottle, and your journal/pen for taking notes.

What happens after the course?  Will there be any follow-up?

We will likely create a practice circle in Nederland so that participants can come together for exchanges in a safe environment with some supervision.

What is your refund policy?

Up to 7 days before the event, we are happy to give you a full refund – life happens.  After that, there is no refund available unless we can fill your spot.
